So, you’re having your website redesigned? Great! But what should you be doing in the meantime? There are a ton of things you should do while your website is being redesigned, but only a handful of useful things that will work with your redesign to move the needle in your business. In this blog post, we’re going to chat about the five main things you should be doing while your website is being redesigned.
Website Content Audit
The first thing you should be doing while your website is being redesigned is a website content audit. What does this mean? A website content audit is the process of reviewing your current website text, documents and images to ensure they still speak to the goal, focus and mission of your website. You should review each individual piece of content and rate it against the new vision for the website. You may also want to do this with the help of a copywriter and search engine optimization expert. Kill to birds with one stone kind of deal.

Photo Shoot
You should be moving away from stock photography. Yes, I know, stock photography is so easy and quick. You can even get high quality images for free nowadays from websites like Pexels and Unsplash. But, stock photography gives website a less personal feeling. There’s nothing wrong with stock photography, I even use it on my website.
But if you are in a position to take your own photos do so where you can. Photos of you, your business, your products, or even you delivering your services, give visitors a better idea of what they can expect from you and your company.
Content Creation
While you website is being redesigned, this is a great time (especially since you just conducted a website content audit) to start creating new content. During your audit, you should have identified holes in your content. Places where you could go deeper explaining a concept. Remember you create content to develop website visitors into informed clients and customers. The more informed your customer, the easier it will be to make them see the value in what you offer.
Social Media Branding
This is also a great time for you to begin adjusting your brand on social media. You see, you should be using your company brand all through your social media accounts. From your colors to tone and voice to your logo. When I visit your social media profiles I shouldn’t have to guess whether this is your official profile or not.
You may want to work with a social media expert to help you better brand your profiles as well as the content you publish on a regular basis. Do you add your logo or company name to your Instagram tiles? If not, you’re cutting off your nose despite your face. It would be very easy for a competitor to take a great piece of YOUR content and pawn it off as their own if there is no company name on the tile.
Automation Setup
Lastly, start to look for ways to automate your tasks. The best gift you could give yourself is the gift of automation. What am I talking about? You should automate as much of your business as possible. For example, when a visitors signs up for your mailing list, they should automatically be placed into an email sequence that begins to warm them up and prepare them for a sales email later.
In addition, your clients should be placed in an email sequence welcoming them to your company and giving them next steps. You can even automate this process, so right when a client signs a contract, they are automatically sent into an automation that delivers details to them through email over the span of 3 weeks. This is literally work off your back!
