Increase Instagram Followers Fast in 5 Steps
Instagram followers is one metric that many businesses find to be very important. Everyone wants to know how to increase Instagram followers fast! I on the other hand don’t put much stock in it. The number of Instagram followers I have does not necessarily directly reflect how much revenue my business has coming in. And we all know if it don’t make dollars, it don’t make sense.
I know what you’re thinking, “J. Marie why don’t you stress over the number of Instagram followers that you have like everyone else?”. My focus isn’t the number of followers I have, it’s the number of followers I convert. Because my main metric is sales; I focus on the number of sales by channel and Instagram is a channel. I want to know how many Instagram followers became clients? That’s what’s important to me.
However, in order to get to that metric, you do have to have some Instagram followers. So, today, I’m going to give you five tactics you can follow to increase Instagram followers fast. This is the quickest route to Instagram success, but it isn’t the easiest, so pay attention.
How to Increase Instagram Followers Fast
1. Offer great content that is highly targeted and highly valuable
The number one key to success on Instagram is great content. You have to bring value to your followers. Give them something they can’t get anyplace else or be a one stop shop for all their needs in a particular area. Target content to your followers, give them what they need. My followers come to expect my Instagram account to offer details on how they can run a successful web presence — from website design to social media marketing to search engine optimization — my followers know they can expect quality content from my account. I’m a one stop shop that offers proven techniques to help my followers run their business online.
2. Use between 15 and 20 hashtags (5 large, 10 medium, 5 small)
Instagram is a platform that allows for the use of hashtags. You are allowed a maximum of 30 hashtags per post. I recommend only using 20 hashtags, but making them highly relevant and targeted. When you do your hashtag research, you’ll see that each hashtag has a number associated with it. That number tells you how many other posts are using that hashtag.
You’ve got large hashtags where there are literally millions of posts using it and small hashtags where only a few hundred posts are using it. Then you have everything else in the middle. I recommend electing 5 large hashtags, 10 medium hashtags and 5 small hashtags, to round out your chances of showing on the explore page for a particular hashtag.
3. Post consistently 2 – 3 times per day, throughout the day
It’s not just important to post good content, you need to post good content continuously throughout the day every day. Your followers need to know that they can get the information they need from you on a regular basis. Going MIA for several days at a time, can loose you followers if you’re not careful.
4. Don’t use the same hashtags on every post, switch it up
Instagram doesn’t like hashtag spam. Using the same set of hashtags for every post is hashtag spam and you can be shadow banned for stuff like that. What do I suggest? Come up with a list of 5 – 7 hashtag groups. These are hashtags that are relevant to what you post about but each group contains a different set of hashtags. Then just copy and paste them on a rotation, so you’re not using the same hashtags each time.
There are a number of hashtag mobile apps that can help you save your hashtag groups, as well as do your hashtag research. I personally just use my notepad on my iPhone, however.
5. Provide further value in your caption — you have 2200 characters, use them
Don’t just focus on your Instagram post image, focus also on your captions. Your captions should also provide additional value. You have a total of 2,200 characters available in your caption for use. This equals out to about 300 words. That’s a short blog post.
Use this area to give them even more value. The more value you give, the more shareable your content becomes. The more they share, the easier it gets to increase Instagram followers. See the flow?
